New Zealand Casino Gaming Gets Responsible Gaming Trust

New Zealand Casino Gaming Gets Responsible Gaming Trust

In May, it was announced that a new strategic direction that aims to strike the perfect balance of long-term benefit for communities and minimise harm for gamers would be implemented by the responsible New Zealand casino gaming trust called One Foundation.
2018 marks 15 years of operation for One Foundation, which has to date contributed over $90 million to community groups, initiatives and organisations since its inception.

Changes to Benefit New Zealand Casino Gaming Sector

Changes were recently announced at the Trust’s launch in Wellington and include the introduction of an intelligent agent for all online grant applications, a new brand, and a greater focus on both identifying and managing harmful gaming behaviour. This includes working closely with the Problem Gambling Foundation to make sure that Kiwi gamers have better access to counselling when needed.
Malcolm Short, chairman of One Foundation has said that the Trust has completed a thorough review of its strategy to ensure long-term sustainability in a highly dynamic environment. As a result, it has developed an innovative strategy that aligns the Trust’s vision to help communities by implementing harm minimisation initiatives and gaming innovations.
Both the new brand and name along with its distinctive logo have been designed to appeal to everyone from casino gamers and operators to grant recipients.
In the last financial year, One Foundation distributed close to $12 million to communities across the country in four main sectors: education; community and culture; health and welfare; sport and arts. It’s estimated that over half a million people has positively impacted as a result of the Trust’s contributions.

No One Is Left Behind

The core philosophy of the Trust is that no one is left behind, and it is working closely with the Problem Gambling Foundation on its latest initiative. The Trust us reportedly committed to ensuring a culture of care, including a responsible online casino gaming environment.
Kerry Bird, the Trust’s chief executive, say that the new name represents what sets the Trust apart, including what its gaming venues look and feel like and its help services. Bird has reportedly said that One Foundation was the very first Class 4 gaming trust in the country to implement the online grants system for users and is now at the stage where it’s ready to move on.
One Foundation has been hard at work developing several other online innovations, including a chatbot to guide applications through the application process. The Trust is further working closely with the Department of Internal Affairs, the Department’s Choice not Chance resource kits and relevant government agencies to provide education and training to casino staff. In fact, it was the first trust in New Zealand to adopt an active sweep register wherein gaming rooms are observed every half an hour for signs of harmful behaviour.
